The cup
is now fitted into a casting machine. Gold pellets in the required karat and
colour are heated until they liquefy. The machine
spins the cup at high speeds and the molten gold is
funnelled and forced into the cast |
|
Care is
needed as molten gold can cause serious injury.
The cup is removed and cooled and the is cast broken
apart. Inside is an exact gold replica of the
original wax model. Picture is of a 'tree' of
rings which started as many wax models joined together. |

This
picture is a result of the earlier wax model of this
ring . The long tube on the casting, the sprue is cut off.
The sprue is the pipeline that allows the molten gold to
flow into the body of the cast. |
