Investment
is mixed. Investment is basically "plaster of
Paris" similar to what is used for casts for broken
limbs. The technician needs to work quickly before
the investment hardens. |
|
The wax
model is placed into a cup. The cup is then filled
with investment. Wax models are very fragile so we
need to be careful. Here a vacuum machine sucks
out all the air bubbles from the investment filled cup. |

The cup
with the wax model in the middle of the now hardened
investment goes into an oven. It is baked at very
high temperature and the wax inside 'burns out' and
evaporates leaving behind an exact impression of the wax
model inside the hard cast. |
