 Design
and Carving the Wax

First
there must be a design an idea or concept for
the new item. We start with a picture, sketch or
sample from which the artist can work to carve and
create a model in either metal or wax. |

The carver
starts with a blank tube of special wax. This is
his canvas, the clay from which he will sculpt a
creation. Wax is easier to work with than metal.
Separate pieces of wax can be added, glued on with a
heat pen. |

The wax
carver then files, drills and shapes the blank into the
design of the desired piece. This work is an art
form like sculpting and takes creativity, experience,
talent and patience. |
