I found a cheaper price for repairing my ring
Like in anything, there is always a cheaper way to do things and cut corners. Jewellery repair is no exception.
For example, retipping the claws that hold the diamond. The fast improper way to do it, is just to flow some gold solder over the existing tip and polish it. Yes its a fast and easy way to do it.
However solder isn't a metal its softer and made to hold metal together, not be a metal. It will discolour and wear down quickly. The correct way and the way we do it is to file down the existing claw. Made a piece of gold in the correct carat, solder that to the filed down claw then shape and polish it.
My white gold ring looks yellowish?
White gold items are rhodium plated to make them reflect and shine like chrome. This plating wears off in time and with the heat needed in sizing or repairs. Occasional rhodium plating is required to return the new white colour. For more detailed discussion see

gold
issues.
Can I mail in my repairs? yes - use this form for sending in repairs

My ring spins around on my finger
Knuckles are usually larger than the base of the finger. Rings need to be sized to get over the knuckle. There are various ways to solve the problem. Drop by bye the store to discuss the options.
How often should I have my jewellery checked?
We recommend twice a year. There is no charge to clean and check your jewellery.
Can you make a matching wedding band for my engagement ring
No problem - see
custom design.
Can I wait for my repair?
Minor repairs yes. In fairness to all repairs are completed in the order they come in. If you require "panic service" we will try to accommodate you within two hours at an additional charge.
Can I watch my item being repaired?
Our goldsmith is visible. Security and insurance prohibits customers from the repair area.
What is the most serious repair issue?
Ring tips that secure the gems. No one wants to lose their gemstones. The claws that secure a gem, wear down or break off. They need to be checked often and replaced occasionally.
Do I get the gold back when you make my ring smaller?
Yes if you ask. Our
sizing prices reflect us retaining the gold. Add $5 to return the gold piece. A saw blade cut is 1/4 of a size, so a 1/2 size turns to dust - 2.2mm is one size, there isn't much to get back.
How do I know I am getting my own diamonds back?
Deal with a reputable jeweller that you trust. Like any industry we have 'the good, the bad and the ugly'.
